This is an extraordinary book. A serious consideration of the scholarly contribution of Spierlrein's contirubution to the integration of disciplines that support the understanding of the psychology of humans. Also a balance, well reseaarched account of Spierlrein's relationship with Jung, Freud and Piaget. In the Me-Too of today Jung and Freud would have a lot to answer for. In the final section on Legacy, Launer beautifully expresses the significant contribution made by Spierlrein and the multiple causes that she is not acknowledged. In a personal way, her murder in the German genocide was a horrible shock. It deeply touched me recognizing the enormous loss to our world from the German Genocide and Stalin's political Genocide. Speinlrein suffered a great deal as a child, with a young adult breakdown, with abuse of her caregivers, with opposition to her best ideas and contributions, with unhappy marriage and the loss of family fortunes. She managed to live a good life. fulfilling professionally and meeting the variety of challenges with courage. Like everyone else, caught in the holocaust, she did not deserve to die that way. It make the reclamation of her work an even greater gift.
