Many books have been written about orchids; I have 500 of them. Many of them are beautiful, but most do not include all of the information on the subject. And, not many have been written in such detail about all of the primary and secondary techniques that clever orchids use to reproduce and continue to evolve in nature. Adam P. Karremans has done and thorough, detailed, and excellent job that is easy to follow and enjoy in this book. I never thought that I would enjoy reading about the contrivances and repeat offenders (insects) of the world’s most beautiful and diverse plant family. I read his book in 4 days. I am not a botanist or entomologist, but I am glad that a modern botanist like Adam has taken this angle, seldom developed for orchids, whose relationship with pollinators is so crucial. With any orchid book, you have to have beautiful photos – the photos and videos (links in QR codes) are exceptional.
