I have young grandchildren and I was looking for something that would be fun, easy to use, and educationally helpful for both the 2 year old boy and the 4 year old girl. This set (device and cards) checks all the boxes. It's helpful for the two year old who is developing his speech skills, as it verbally introduces many practical words. There is a "repeat" button so he can hear the word multiple times. Hopefully his vocabulary will grow accordingly. For the four year old, the combination of the words being verbalized with the printed spelling of the words on the card, will help her as she learns to spell and write. Again, the repeat feature improves the likelihood that she will learn more as she goes on.There are 149 double-sided cards offering all sorts of words, numbers, and phrases. In addition to the child being able to play by him or herself, an adult can easily join in and use each card as an opportunity to teach about the subject the card represents. The device and cards are easy to use. The 4 year old took to it immediately. The two year old had a little bit of a problem carefully placing the card in the reader, but it all worked out. The cards themselves seem pretty sturdy. We (me and their parents) foresee years of learning and fun ahead. I strongly recommend this for ages 1-5.
