Israeli author Dr. Ofer Grosbard earned his PhD from the George Mason University in Virginia and is a clinical psychologist, specializing in conflict analysis and resolution. In addition to his practice, Dr. Grosbard lectures at universities in Tel Aviv and Haifa and in the Arab Academic College for Education in Haifa. His articles have been widely published, and his books – THE ARAB WITHIN, MENACHEM BEGIN – THE ABSENT LEADER, BABEL: A GUIDE TO EAST-WEST ENCOUNTER, THE HOLY QURAN FOR EDUCATING THE CHILD, and THE ORGASM FANTASY: IMPROVING SEX AND RELATIONSHIPS - are globally popular. In Dr. Grosbard’s definition, the ‘Orgasm Fantasy Theory is an applied theory of personality which claims that personality comprises three levels of thinking that compromise his personality - nighttime dreams, the orgasm fantasy, and conscious thought – in order to better know himself and how he encounters and interacts with the world. These different levels and the interplay between them are presented here through case studies of patients that illustrate their personalities and behavior patterns and that give the reader powerful tools for improving his or her sex life and relationships with others.’ The sensitive and pertinent advice he offers in this interesting book is summarized in his statement: ‘I’d like to live in a world in which, when people shake hands to introduce themselves, they also tell each other their orgasm fantasies. Then we would more easily get to know, understand, and accept one another.’Though the book is a series of important case studies that illustrate each of Dr. Grosbard’s concepts, the inserts of his thoughts along the way make a profound impact on the reader. ‘The mere act of listening to our dreams makes us more creative people.’ ‘A patient’s profound emotional dependence on others may only become apparent through his or her dreams.’ ‘A dream is the product of the residue of the previous day.’ ‘Delving into dreams makes a person more creative.’ ‘The orgasm fantasy is the most stimulating fantasy a person has, one that brings him or her to a sexual climax.’Relating how orgasm fantasies reflect not only the sexual content, but more importantly the love relationships that form our lives, makes this information valuable. ‘The orgasm fantasy and conscious thought shape our encounter with reality.’ This is a unique book that offers strong insights as to how our dream world and reality world blend, a book that is not only thoughtful and stimulating and entertaining to read, but one that also provides access to enriching our lives.
